The animals at Frönshult are all raised in free-range sheds and always have access to outdoor living in the winter and go completely outdoors during the grazing season. As the herd is a breeding herd, it is above all the slightly older cows that go to slaughter after giving birth to several calves. The bull calves are usually sold on as livestock to other beef producers. The largest part of all females become pregnant through semen or embryo transfer (ET), this to ensure good breeding work and good offspring. These are two essential tools for conducting top class breeding. After birth, the calf goes with its mother to separation, which takes place at about 8 months of age.
The result of slaughtering slightly older cows is that the meat quality is usually completely even. Finely distributed marbling and maximum flavor are advantages of our method. All feed that our slaughter animals eat is produced on the farm, pasture and grass silage. The daily handling of our animals over a long period of time results in calm animals. This together with a stress-free slaughter provides the best possible conditions for good meat quality and a dignified life for the animals.
The same breeding method is applied to both our Simmentals and our purebred wagyu.
